Project Overview
This project demonstrates a montage/editing workflow that shows you the process of making an edit, I used embergen for the VFX (particles, fire and the magical orb) and After Effects to put it all together. The focus of this project was me being able to learn how to tell a story with visuals.
Concept & Planning
The project began with me wanting to make a birthday edit for my friend, so i started rewatching the show Kiznaiver. After i finished watching it I started with planning out, what the author of the show was trying to tell with his story. The message that the author was trying to convey was that shared pain can lead to empathy, understanding and a stronger bond between people. I tried to showcase that by making them go apart and then reunite at the end.

Workflow
I used a plugin called uwu2x so i could interpolate the frames and remove the deadframes of the original video, so i could time remap the video and make the movement make sense to the song. Another plugin i used was called The Anime Scripter for extracting depth maps, it extracts a 3D map of your video so you can give your scenes more depth. I also spent time looking at other editors to see how they were able to tell a story with their videos.

Technical Challenges
One of the biggest challenges i had with the project was blending the falling down scene. In the original scene his hands were out of the frame, so I went to a later scene and i masked out his hands, then I had to go frame by frame and make sure his hands were not disconnecting from the original footage . It was also really difficult to make the scenes blend together. Overall i think it turned out great, but i definetly have alot to improve on.
